MURPHY’s Story…

Murphy is a handsome dude who can melt your heart with his soulful eyes and his habit of cocking his head when you talk to him. He may not yet be a dog who runs up to greet you and lick your face, but he wants to please and learns easily. Murphy was taken in by Spot almost a year ago.
When we first met him, he was so terrified that not even the shelter staff could approach or touch him. He has been making slow but steady progress since then with the help of a trainer/behaviorist, patient foster parents and volunteers. After he gets to know you, he will allow himself to be approached slowly and sometimes petted. Other times, he will approach you and give you a nose bump just to say hello. Too much human contact still doesn’t feel safe for Murphy. He is a gentle soul who likes to be with his people; but usually at a distance.
Murphy has a bit more progress to make, but he has already blossomed from that terrified dog into a happy guy who adores other dogs and spends a lot of time running and playing with the pups in his foster home and with other dogs on pack walks. He would do best with at least one other dog and a calm home environment. Murphy needs someone who understands and accepts his sensitivity and will be there to provide a structure for him to continue to progress.
