Some stories stay with you, and Hope’s is one of them.
This beautiful Shepherd/Boxer mix was originally known as Cheetah, and she has been growing by leaps and bounds. As she grew, though, it became clear that something wasn’t quite right with one of her front legs.
SPOT took Hope to an orthopedic surgeon for X-rays and a full evaluation. The diagnosis was heartbreaking—she was born with a congenital defect in her front leg. Sadly, there is no surgery that can correct it. Once she has finished growing, her leg will need to be amputated. Because she is still growing, the procedure can’t be done yet, as removing the leg now would place too much strain on her good leg while her growth plates are still developing.
Through it all, Hope’s foster family has been nothing short of incredible. They have been by her side every step of the way, taking her to specialist appointments, making sure she receives the very best care, and loving her unconditionally.
Knowing the road that lies ahead, this amazing family made a decision that speaks volumes about their hearts—they adopted her.
They also gave her a new name: Hope.
It takes a truly special family to open their hearts to a puppy knowing she will face a lifelong disability. Hope will have challenges ahead, but she will never have to face them alone. She has found exactly where she belongs—with a family who loves her for who she is, not for what she can or cannot do.
We will continue to share updates as Hope grows and prepares for her surgery. There may be some difficult days ahead, but one thing is certain: Hope is surrounded by love, and her future has never looked brighter.
