BREAKING NEWS: LUCKY HAS A NEW FAMILY!!

Our little survivor dog, Lucky now has a very happy ending to his story. He has been adopted by his perfect family, Joann and her son, Jake.

As those of you who have been following Lucky know, Lucky did not have an easy life before coming to SPOT. He had been hit by a truck and lay injured on the side of the road for days before a good samaritan found him and brought him to us. His leg was badly injured and he had lost one eye. After surgery on the leg, trying to repair his shattered elbow, and 6 weeks of daily bandage changes for his degloved forearm, we were waited for it to heal. Unfortunately the elbow was too far gone and the surgical repair did not take. This has rendered his leg useless and the tough decision was made to amputate his leg…

He now shares his home with mom, grandmother, brother, Jake, 2 cats and “a gazillion” toys. His mom bought a basket for the toys, but Lucky decided he would rather have them on the floor so he can rearrange them!

Lucky wants to thank his rescuers, doctors, supporters and of course his wonderful foster moms, Wendy and Marsha, and Eve. We are beyond happy for this li’l guy and know his life will be filled love and joy. Way to go Lucky.. you made it!!!!

LUCKY’S STORY…A SURVIVOR’S TALE!

Lucky is quite a handsome guy. He is about 2 yrs old, weighs 10 lbs., and is housetrained.
He did not have an easy life before he came to SPOT. He had been hit by a truck and left by the side of the road for days with a badly injured leg until a good Samaritan rescued him and brought him to us. He lost an eye and one leg as a result of his ordeal; but he is grateful to be alive and doesn’t feel like he is different from any other dog who is looking for a home.
His foster mom reports that he loves tennis balls! He fetches and plays with them and likes to keep them near him on his bed or the couch. (Here he is in one of his photos with his ball tucked away in the couch.) He is also crazy about stuffed animals, the more, the better. After all he went through, he was a bit fearful at first and didn’t know if he could trust anyone. But he is becoming more and more confident and trusting each day. He seems to know he is with people who love and care for him and knows he will be alright now. Lucky lives with 2 other dogs in his foster home, so he gets along fine with other dogs; but he would also be content being an only dog. His foster mom says he melts into her arms when she picks him up and is content to sit on your lap for hours at a time. He is experiencing love for probably the first time and
he is basking in it. After going through so much suffering and neglect, Lucky has emerged a happy and loving dog, who will brighten the life of the lucky person who adopts him. For an adoption application for Lucky, Click here for Lucky’s profile

UPDATE 6/28/14

As those of you who have been following Lucky know, Lucky did not have an easy life before coming to SPOT. He had been hit by a truck and lay injured on the side of the road for days before a good samaritan found him and brought him to us. His leg was badly injured and he had lost one eye. After surgery on the leg, trying to repair his shattered elbow, and 6 weeks of daily bandage changes for his degloved forearm, we were waited for it to heal. Unfortunately the elbow was too far gone and the surgical repair did not take. This has rendered his leg useless and the tough decision was made to amputate his leg. This surgery was performed and now he has returned to his wonderful foster Moms, Wendy and Marsha today. He is receiving lots of TLC and will finish his healing.

Now that things are looking up for this sweet boy, the name Lucky fits him a lot better. He is safe and healthy with lots of energy to enjoy life to the maximum. His foster Mom, Wendy says he he melts into her arms when she picks him up and he knows he is loved.

Lucky only lacks one thing to make his life complete: a forever family to call his own, where he can he can be the normal happy dog he was meant to be.

Here are photos of Lucky being picked up by his foster moms at Surfside a day after his surgery. For anyone who would like to donate to Lucky’s medical fund, you can donate through our website at https://spotsavespets.org/save-lucky/ .. UPDATE 5/4/14 WISH ME LUCK from LUCKY…

“My name is Lucky. I was run over run over by a trailer south of the border and lay injured on the side of the road for one week, with people stepping around me and passing me by each day. A nice person found me with my buddy.. his name is Pepito. The nice person rushed me to the vet, where I spent time in intensive care. I had to have my right eye removed due to trauma and infection, and my right leg and foot are badly broken. But they took care of me. Then I met SPOT… They saved me and my buddy, Pepito….
I am having surgery tomorrow on my broken leg and foot, so if you can, please wish me good luck. I have been in so much pain this week and I hope this helps. Everyone has been so good to me. Btw, if you can also help Pepito find a nice family to stay with for a while. He is my best friend. I hope to meet you soon.” Lucky
